#12 | AR/VR Integrated EFL Classrooms

   Hello everyone!!

Today’s topic is “AR/VR Integrated EFL Classrooms”.

I’m sure you are familiar with our topic. Even if these don’t ring a bell, I bet you have at least scanned a QR code or used navigation apps. It is not limited to these either. We can look at the 3D images of dinosaurs that went extinct long ago, visit a museum across the globe, or enjoy a nice evening at the Amalfi Coast through 360 videos. Sounds interesting, right? And we must think about these opportunities as “How can they be integrated into our classes?”.

Luckily, our task was about this. We tried to provide students with the experience of exploring a city abroad through these technologies. Eylül, İlayda, and I prepared our material about London. We used Canva to create our worksheet. Our material starts with introducing London and mentioning fun facts about the famous city. Then we chose two landmarks, one museum, and one festival for students to attend the virtual tours by scanning given QR codes and answering questions about the places and their experiences. Finally, as a project that allows them to self-reflect on the whole process, students have to write an Instagram post to share about their “trip”. Also, this is our lesson plan according to the ASSURE Model.

Preparing this material was one of the best experiences, as I got to practice with a technology that I was not aware of the use of in an educational manner. I think we all must use them to provide variety and personalization of learning because it makes a difference, really. There is nothing students love more than gamifying the learning process. These technologies would be the best way to study new vocabulary, introduce new places, and look up different kinds of objects.

   Take care <3
