#8 | Recap of What We Did So Far / Final Post of the Term

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope everything is fine. If you ask me, I’m perfect. Summer break is here who wouldn’t also be so happy?? But I’ll miss writing here .( As you can see in the title, this is my final post for the term. You may be familiar with the whole purpose of this blog, I am using this platform as an online portfolio for my Material Design course, which is helping us, pre-service English teachers to get familiar with the process of the integration of technology in education.

Let’s look through the whole term.

First, we created a blog account and learned how to manage a blog. Before this course, I had never thought about making a blog and using it, it felt like this idea was so crazy to have. But now, updating this blog is part of my daily life. Writing posts, preparing covers, and finding my aesthetic on the blog page was a really enjoyable experience.

Then, we talked about 21st-century learning, legal & ethical issues in the digital world, educational podcasts, digital stories, collaborative writing, and AI use. To give information about them, we did most of the doable ones as we needed to get used to preparing materials like that.

Looking back, I can see my progress. Before this course, my whole student life was a perfect example of traditional schooling. No learner-focused tasks, no learner integration, no digital materials, just constant reading and writing. So, I didn’t feel the need to engage myself with the technology in education. But this course, kind of opened my eyes. I realized there are so many options to make learning enjoyable and effective. For example, I listen to podcasts and enjoy them for a long time. Even though I listen to so many things related to English, I’ve never thought that they can be used in the classrooms as listening material. I started to look at the world from a teacher's perspective, I’m trying to find things that I can adapt to a classroom environment. I also think this course helped me to get familiar with certain platforms, such as Canva, Picktochart, Pixton, and Vocaroo. They all have different functions to meet different needs. Using Pixton was my favorite experience, we made a digital story with my friends and the whole process was really funny. The only suggestion that I can give is to talk and use more of these platforms. Exploring them and trying to make sense of them is hard but definitely worth it in the end.

So, that was all for now. Hope to see you soon, don’t be a stranger. <3
